Why?
As someone who has a more traditional graphic design background and a keen interest in human psychology, I wanted to develop my understanding around user experience design and use this knowledge to help my creative process and enrich my design work.

Process:
My task was to design a new website for the client with a focus on the hotel booking process, including searching, booking and paying for a hotel room. The output of which was to build a clickable prototype that can be tested with users, along with a detailed set of wireframes. I utilised the full UX Process to create this prototype in the following order:
Research > Analysis > Design > Prototyping > Wireframing

Results:

  • Highlighted the impact of user centred research and how customer journey maps are integral to the the hierarchy of a final design, particularly when thinking about the design of the user interface.

  • Usability testing is integral to understand how users are interacting with a service.

  • Wording on call to action buttons are really important when creating accessible designs.

  • Structure and feedback on form design makes the difference between a user completing a process on a website or abandoning one.

Tools used:
FIGMA, ADOBE XD

Prototype

Built using Adobe XD, you can see the finalised low fidelity prototype here.
